Letting Go

Thu, 18 Jul

St Helens

When attachment arises in our mind it does not feel harmful; on the contrary, it usually feels beneficial. Therefore, it is important to contemplate repeatedly the faults of attachment and to recognise it as a delusion whose only function is to cause us harm

About

Sometimes we get stuck in situations where we are not happy, but we stay because it is familiar, and letting go would involve something unfamiliar and uncertain. This can occur in jobs relationships, locations, and the things we enjoy. So we cling to a spot on the bank of the river struggling to resist the current, not realising that struggle itself is a source of discomfort and suffering.

If we had the confidence to let go and allow new experiences and situations to appear, we could learn to find authentic peace and happiness within our own mind. There are always other parts of the riverbank to be experienced.

Letting go of attachment is one of the processes that will lead us to become the best we can be.

These classes will take us on a voyage of discovery to help us to identify our deluded mind of attachment, recognise the harm it is causing and to learn ways to gradually reduce and finally abandon this unpeaceful mind and replacing it with real happiness and freedom.
